いわき芸術文化交流館「アリオス」で、３月１５日にＮＨＫ交響楽団（Ｎ響）による「第１３回いわき定期演奏会」が開催される。東日本大震災・東京電力福島第一原発事故から１５年の節目に合わせ、メインプログラムにはモーツァルトの「レクイエム ＫＶ６２６」を据えた。
指揮は気鋭の沖澤のどかさん（セイジ・オザワ 松本フェスティバル首席客演指揮者）が務め、合唱では国内外で活躍するソリストとともに、県合唱連盟いわき支部の協力で結成された「いわき市民レクイエム合唱団」が共演する。まさに一聴の価値ありだ。
沖澤さんは青森市出身。東京芸術大音楽学部指揮科を首席で卒業。同大大学院音楽研究科指揮専攻修士課程修了。２０１９年にブザンソン国際指揮者コンクールで優勝し、２２年にはロシアの軍事侵攻を受けたウクライナとの連帯を表明するベルリン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団のコンサートで、急病の首席指揮者に代わって楽団を率いた。
２３年から京都市交響楽団の常任指揮者、２４年からセイジ・オザワ 松本フェスティバル首席客演指揮者に就いている。昨年１１月にボストン交響楽団の定期演奏会を指揮し、堂々の米国デビューを果たした。
この時はドヴォルザークの交響曲第７番をメインとし、現地最大の日刊紙ボストン・グローブは「オーケストラのダイナミックな表現力を存分に解き放ち、４０分の演奏はまるで１０分のように感じられた」とたたえている。
レクイエムは死者のためのミサ曲を意味し、モーツァルトの最後の作品として知られ、演奏会を通じてさらなる復興に向けて鎮魂の思いを新たにする。ソリストはソプラノが松井亜希さん、メゾ・ソプラノが小泉詠子さん、テノールが清水徹太郎さん、バリトンが加耒（かく）徹さんで、国内外で多数の実績を持つ声楽家が一堂に会した。
また最初に演奏するモーツァルトの「アダージョとフーガ ハ短調 ＫＶ５４６」は献奏として、２曲目にあたるプロコフィエフの「交響曲第１番『古典』ｏｐ．２５」はこの街の在りし日のあたたかな記憶を呼び覚ます狙いがあり、演奏会全体で災禍からの１５年と向き合う構成となっている。

NHK Symphony Orchestra to Perform Mozart’s “Requiem” in Iwaki: Marking 15 Years Since the 2011 Disaster
On March 15, the “13th Iwaki Subscription Concert” by the NHK Symphony Orchestra (N-Kyo) will be held at the Iwaki Alios Art and Culture Hub. To mark the 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident, the program features Mozart’s “Requiem, K. 626” as its centerpiece.
The concert will be conducted by the brilliant Nodoka Okisawa (Principal Guest Conductor of the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival). The performance will feature world-renowned soloists alongside the “Iwaki Citizen Requiem Choir,” a special chorus formed with the cooperation of the Iwaki Branch of the Fukushima Choral Federation. It is truly a “must-hear” event.
Originally from Aomori, Okisawa graduated at the top of her class from the Tokyo University of the Arts and completed her master’s degree there. She won the prestigious Besançon International Competition for Young Conductors in 2019. In 2022, she drew international attention when she stepped in on short notice to lead the Berlin Philharmonic in a concert expressing solidarity with Ukraine, replacing the chief conductor due to illness.
Since 2023, she has served as the Chief Conductor of the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, and in 2024, she was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival. Last November, she made a triumphant U.S. debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The Boston Globe, the city’s largest daily newspaper, praised her performance of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, stating she “unleashed the orchestra’s dynamic expressive power” and made the “40-minute performance feel like 10 minutes.”
The “Requiem,” a mass for the dead and famous as Mozart’s final work, will serve as a renewed prayer for the victims and a commitment to continued reconstruction. The stellar lineup of soloists includes Aki Matsui (Soprano), Eiko Koizumi (Mezzo-soprano), Tetsutaro Shimizu (Tenor), and Toru Kaku (Baritone).
The program is carefully curated to reflect on the 15 years since the disaster: Mozart’s “Adagio and Fugue in C minor, K. 546” will be performed as a musical offering, while Prokofiev’s “Symphony No. 1 ‘Classical,’ Op. 25” aims to evoke warm memories of the city’s former days.
