Tabito Sightseeing Strawberry Farm Opens for the Season: Crowds Gather for “Top-Notch” Sweetness Despite Summer Heat Impact
The “Tabito Sightseeing Strawberry Farm” in Tabito-machi, Tabito, officially began its operations for the current season on the 3rd. According to the farm, the strawberry yield is currently somewhat low due to the effects of last summer’s extreme heat. As a result, the farm had to close after just over an hour on the first day; however, the venue was still bustling with many visitors enjoying the New Year holidays.
The farm opened in 2002 with the aim of revitalizing the Tabito district. It is well-known for starting its season every year on January 3rd, offering strawberry picking through June. The main varieties grown here are Akihime and Beni-hoppe, which are said to possess “top-notch” sweetness. Haruto Kujiraoka (9), who visited from Uchigo with his family, smiled as he savored the succulent fruit, saying, “They were sweet, soft, and delicious.”
Operating hours are from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (last admission at 3:00 PM). No reservations are required, and guests are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Through March, the 40-minute all-you-can-eat fee is 1,800 yen for junior high school students and older, 1,600 yen for elementary school students, and 1,300 yen for preschoolers aged 3 and up.
For further information, please contact the farm at (69) 2448. They also post updates on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
