サッカー・Ｊ２いわきＦＣは５日、平赤井の閼伽井嶽薬師常福寺で今季の必勝祈願を行い、運営会社・いわきスポーツクラブの大倉智代表取締役と、田村雄三監督や新加入を含めたトップチーム選手・スタッフら約６０人が参加した。
２０２６年のＪリーグは秋春制への移行を控え、いわきＦＣは２月から特別大会「明治安田Ｊ２・Ｊ３百年構想リーグ」に臨み、８月から新たなＪ２のシーズンが始まる変則的な日程だが、田村監督は「目の前の一戦一戦に対して勝利を目指していくことには変わりはない」と語った。
必勝祈願では上野宅正住職が護摩祈とうに続き、「今年の干支は午で、エネルギッシュな年となる。特に丙午であり、通常の午年よりもはるかに飛翔するものの、手綱を握る者が重要視される。皆さんも監督に身をゆだねながら、それぞれの力を大いに発揮してほしい。本年も山上からご本尊とともに応援します」と呼びかけた。
恒例の行事として、旧磐城平藩・安藤家が出陣する際の作法にならい、栗の甘露煮の「勝栗」を食べて士気を高め、田村監督が必勝と書かれたダルマに目入れをした。
いわきＦＣでは３シーズン目を迎え、昨季は守備の要を担いつつ、積極的な攻撃参加で５得点を挙げたＤＦ堂鼻起暉選手は「必勝祈願に臨み、改めて今年１年頑張っていこうという気持ちになった」と語る。
プレーにあたっては「選手の入れ替わりはあったが、（クラブが掲げる）『９０分間止まらない、倒れないサッカー』を体現することには変わりはない。既存の選手と新しい選手によって、さらに強いチームを作っていければ」と強調。「今年も応援よろしくお願いいたします」とサポーターに呼びかけた。
また新「１０番」は、Ｊ１東京ヴェルディから完全移籍した２１歳のＦＷ西谷亮選手。２年間にわたってＪ３ＦＣ岐阜にレンタルされ、昨季はリーグで８得点を挙げてチーム得点王となった。
大倉社長によると、本人の希望で「１０番」に決まった。「自信があるのだろうし、非凡なものを持っていると感じる。彼は鍛えればもっと上のステージに行ける」と期待を寄せた。

On January 5th, the J2 League club Iwaki FC held its annual “Hissho Kigan” (victory prayer ceremony) at Akaitake Yakushi Jofuku-ji Temple in Taira-Akai. Specifically, it is the Year of the Fire Horse (Hinoe-uma). While it is a year to soar much higher than a typical horse year, the role of the person holding the reins is vital. I want the players to entrust themselves to the manager and fully demonstrate their individual strengths. We will continue to support you from this mountain alongside the deity.”
Following a local tradition derived from the battle rituals of the Ando family (the former lords of the Iwaki-Taira Domain), the team ate “Kachiguri” (sweetened chestnuts, literally “victory chestnuts”) to boost morale. Manager Tamura also performed the symbolic “eye-painting” of a Daruma doll inscribed with the words for “Certain Victory.”
Player Perspectives: Continuity and New Ambition
DF Koki Douhana: Entering his third season with Iwaki, Douhana was a defensive pillar last season who also contributed 5 goals. “Taking part in this prayer has renewed my determination to give my best for the year,” he said.
